Hi there! We are the Franceschinis, a fun-loving family headed up by Jim & Lisa, with their four adult kids, significant others, and a new granddaughter (easily Jim & Lisa's favorite member of the family at the moment).
Old People Outdoors started in Shenandoah National Park, just down the road from Jim & Lisa's "retirement ranch." The year 2020 brought all of the adult children back to the area after being scattered around the country, giving the family a lot more quality time spent on mountain hikes, lakeside trails and bike paths.
Of course the "kids" always had way more energy than the "adults" and the opportunity was never wasted to poke fun at the older folks. Jim's bad knee meant anti-inflammatories were popped like skittles and plenty of groans were heard on the trail, while Lisa's choice of hiking outfits (jeans?!) never ceased to amaze the younger women wearing leggings.
Snack breaks, bear whistles, first aid kits and the sheer volume of water being brought by the “elders” on a 1-mile hike were all sources of humor for the group. So we began passing time together thinking of silly sayings about old people doing things outside and OPO was born!
